Bright Stars seeks more charities and third sector partners to teach primary schools about business

Charities across Cumbria are being asked to work with local primary schools to help them create a campaign to ‘make a difference’ as part of the Bright Stars 2021 programme which teaches young children about business.


New ProjX brief for 2021!

The ProjX work experience programme is designed and delivered in partnership with a range of local business partners and funded by Sellafield Ltd.  The project brief for 2021 will ask the students to focus on the site of the former Opera House in Workington.


Dream Placement Placement Week 2021

February half-term will be a life-changing week for more than 30 Cumbrian 16-18 year olds taking the opportunity to learn about leadership and career opportunities within employers ranging from international engineering and construction companies to the office of a local MP and a Michelin-starred restaurant.

Business Skills, Bonding and Fun!

The six-week Business in Your Hand programme delivered by The Centre for Leadership Performance and funded by Sellafield Ltd . This programme took place between September and October 2020 at the Phoenix Youth Club in Cleator Moor.


#CanDo Grant – funds Leading Change Programme

The Centre for Leadership Performance are pleased to announce receiving funding for their Leading Change project from the Cumbria Community Foundation’s #CanDo and Transforming West Cumbria programme which is funded by Sellafield Ltd.

Following the announcement from the Government, the new Lockdown restrictions mean that the arrangements and timelines for Bright Stars 2021 have to change.

Five Cumbrian MPs this week delivered personal messages of support to primary school pupils taking part in Bright Stars 2021 to congratulate them on taking part and encourage them to ‘Make a Difference’.

As this year draws to a close, it is likely that we will all be glad to see the back of 2020, a year like no other, full of uncertainty, challenge, fear and sadness. At the same time, this year has also seen great examples of leadership; people and communities pulling together to support one another in times of greatest need, businesses and schools embracing new technologies and finding new ways to create connections.


Leader 2 Leader- Bursary applications now live!

We have teamed up with Sellafield Ltd and One AIM to provide bursaries for local leaders to enable them to take part in an eight-month development programme. Bursaries are available for leaders from small business and third sector leaders in Copeland and Allerdale.
