‘Top tips; Don’t let limits get in the way!!’ 

Alysha is a member of the CFL Steering Group and a Youth Development Worker for Walney Community Trust. She has a great passion for travel and a drive to show young people what opportunities they have available to them. Her ambition is to support young people in Barrow-In-Furness and surrounding areas.

“I joined the CFL steering group back in January on behalf of the Brilliant Barrow Futures board. I am currently a Youth Development Worker for Walney Community Trust, down in Barrow. I sit on the Furness Youth Work Partnership group which has come together during lockdown to best support the future of our Young People in the Barrow-In-Furness and surrounding areas. Sitting on the Brilliant Barrows Futures board has been a great experience as I have been able to link the voice of our young people into the future of Barrow. 

My career change has been influenced by my passion to travel and experience different cultures around the world. I also know that the young people will be influenced by this as it shows that they can too have the same opportunity and that their limits do not lie just within their current town. 

Being part of the CFL steering group has been a fantastic opportunity. I love networking and it has been great to connect with those across Cumbria. The biggest influence to us has been taking part in the ‘Your Community Project’ with our young people. This project has not only influenced the young people in many ways, but also influenced some change in the Brilliant Barrow Projects Process. I am excited to see the work of CFL continue to grow within Barrow-In-Furness. There are so many opportunities on the doorstep for young professionals and keeping up to date with the Cumbria Future Leaders network is a great way to find out what’s available.”
