Effective leadership can enable teams to emerge from a period of change stronger, focused and flexible. This workshop provided leaders and managers with the knowledge and skills to engage and support newly formed or recently re-structured teams, ensuring they are ready to respond to new challenges and opportunities.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this workshop, delegates were able to:

  • articulate the key characteristics of a high performance team
  • apply strategies to build on those characteristics
  • establish a shared direction
  • build engagement and cohesion within the team
  • increase motivation and energy
  • recognise and harness diversity in the team
  • establish effective success measures

Course Content

During the workshop we considered/undertook the following issues/activities:

  • When is a team a team? Characteristics that define and determine a team
  • Review your current team performance in the form of a SWOT and Tuckman
  • Use Lencioni's five dysfunctions of a team to understand team issues and barriers to performance
  • Activities to establish shared direction, vision and values
  • How to identify and manage the influence of individual behaviour on team culture
  • Agreeing team objectives and evaluating performance
  • Dealing with conflict, change and challenge in a positive way, constructive team practices
