Bright Stars Secondary

Our Bright Stars primary programme has shown tremendous benefit and impact on the children, staff and business involved. We are keen to ensure we can support young people to build on this learning and create a culture of aspiration and enterprise, whilst helping young people to develop leadership and teamwork skills, confidence, and self-belief as they showcase hidden talents and start to link learning to the world of work in a fun accessible way.

This year we are piloting a secondary Bright Stars programme with St Benedict’s year 8 classes, this pilot has been funded by a grant from Cumbria Community Foundation through the Beverley Charitable Trust Fund and supported by business mentors from McMenon Engineering and Sellafield.

You can follow their progress in their blogs below:

  • Raise the aspirations, confidence, and self-belief of young people
  • Excite young people about the world of work & provide an understanding of business.
  • Encourage & nurture creative thinking and develop these skills including problem solving, critical thinking and communications.
  • Develop skills in teamwork & leadership from an early age.
  • Forge ongoing relationships between young people, teachers, and their local businesses.
  • Give a voice to young children – to hear their views & opinions and get them excited about business in a fun accessible way.
  • To link learning to careers and jobs and roles within Business.
