The Elements programme is brought to you by Sellafield Ltd and delivered in partnership with Sellafield Ltd tier 2 supply chain organisations. Sellafield Ltd work awareness programme is project managed and facilitated by CfLP who will act as coach and mentor to students throughout this week long fun and interactive programme and support students in setting goals and looking at how we ensure young people participating in the programme can develop their skills in leadership, teamwork, communication and problem solving.
The programme has been designed to be inclusive for all students in Year 10 across West Cumbria.
The project brief for 2021 asked the students to focus on designing a system for workplaces that: generate renewable electricity; stores the energy for when needed; delivers energy to cars through some form of charge point.
In 2035 petrol powered cars will no longer be sold in the UK, from which point the electric car will become the most common means of personal transport. West Cumbria currently has one of the lowest level of charge-points in the UK.
