“It’s a really good opportunity for us to get involved in this particular Dream Placement. We’ve wanted to do it for quite some years, but being a small theatre, a relatively small organisation, limited opportunities to kind of give the young people a real breadth of experience for a whole week, it maybe hadn’t really opened the doors for us. And then we started talking to Florence Art Center and looking at maybe pairing up and doing a partnership arrangement because they were in very much the same boat as we were…. Cost would have been probably a barrier to us being a charity, registered charity, very limited funds. And then we’ve been able to secure this funded placement this year, which is we’re really, really grateful and we couldn’t have been able to offer that placement without it.”

Doing Dream Placement was definitely worth it. It opened my eyes to the fact you can do something creative as a job and even do those jobs while staying in Cumbria. It helped build my confidence by stepping out of my comfort zone, meeting new people and going to new places. It also showed me so many other things in the local area I had never even heard about. The whole process has made me more excited about the future and what I can actually do.”

“I think it’s important to connect with young people this way because I think sometimes young people aren’t always shown the breadth of opportunities that are available to them, especially in Cumbria. And this is a great way for us to be instantly around and showcase to, one, the students and two, the organisations also that are involved in Dream Placement.”
